Well I guess that depends. If you're doing land surveying in the middle of nowhere it can be comfy. If you are working in construction in the middle of a city it can be more stressful. I worked in a suburban area, surveying for a company that was building the sewerage system across several neighbourhoods. For me it was a simple, repetitive job (optical levelling most of the time).

No, I got it right after highschool (went to a trade school or technical school, were they teached topography), some teachers that also worked or were related to this particular company vouched for me. It was usual for this to happen, many classmates got hired the same way in other places. It was a good pay for someone just out of highschool but I stopped working and went to study something different in college.
